Sill Protectors – Suzuki Samurai / SJ 410 – SJ 413 – Santana - 3+2 Aluminium Chequer Plate

On the Samurai, the sills are among the first areas to get wrecked. Short wheelbase, narrow track and tall suspension put them exactly on the line where rock does its work: one badly judged ledge or a stump hidden in the grass is enough to leave a permanent mark in the panel.

The MG Off Road sill protectors cover the full exposed strip in aluminium chequer plate, adding protection without altering the vehicle's geometry.

Protection and stiffness

The chequer pattern is not just a look. The pressed relief stiffens the plate, so at equal thickness it resists bending better than a flat surface: the guard takes the hit instead of denting on first contact.

Aluminium does the rest: it does not rust. A steel panel starts corroding the moment paint is scraped away — precisely where mud and road salt sit. That problem does not arise here.

What it protects

The Samurai's original sills are a known corrosion point, and once they go, the repair becomes a bodywork job. These panels work as a sacrificial layer: they cover the original metal, take the hits and, if badly damaged, get replaced.

Installation

Fitting can be done two ways, depending on how permanent you want the job to be:

• Bonded — with structural sealant or automotive silicone. No drilling, no work on the original panel: the option to choose if you want the bodywork left untouched.
• Riveted — aluminium is a soft, easily worked material: the panels can be drilled and riveted with no special tooling, for a firmer mechanical fixing.
