Single Corner Guard for Suzuki SJ - Samurai, 3+2 Diamond Plate

You do not always need all four. One corner caught badly on rock, one side that has already taken its share while the other is still clean, a guard that has done its job and needs replacing.

The rear guards come in soft top or hard top versions: the body profile differs between the two and the parts are not interchangeable. The front guards are identical on both.

The guard gets replaced, the corner does not

That is the principle these guards are built on. The panel takes the hit instead of the bodywork: if the damage is bad, you replace that one piece and the vehicle's corner stays original. Body shop work on a Samurai costs considerably more.

The same applies to metal that is already marked: the guard covers the dent and gives the corner a clean line back.

Construction

All guards are made from 3+2 aluminium diamond plate — 3 mm base plus 2 mm relief, 5 mm total. The pressed pattern stiffens the plate, so at equal thickness it resists bending better than a flat surface.

Aluminium does not rust: unlike a painted steel guard, a chip does not start corrosion, neither on the panel nor on the metal beneath.

Rear guards cut and welded to follow the profile

The Samurai's rear corner is not a simple curve. A 5 mm plate cannot follow it by bending alone: every rear guard is cut in half and re-welded to reproduce the real curvature of the body and sit flush across the whole surface.

The weld stays visible on the diamond relief: that is what a part built around the real profile looks like.

Available finishes

• Bare — natural, unpainted diamond plate
• Micaceous black — industrial micaceous iron oxide finish with a textured surface: high corrosion resistance and excellent at hiding trail marks

Installation

Fitting can be done two ways:

• Bonded — with structural sealant or automotive silicone, without drilling the original panel
• Riveted — aluminium drills and rivets with no special tooling, for a firmer mechanical fixing

A note on fitting

The Samurai was built for over twenty years, and after decades of use, repairs and replaced panels, no two of them share exactly the same corner radius.

Depending on your vehicle's bodywork, some minor adjustment may be needed during installation. This is the normal condition for this type of product, and is stated by overseas manufacturers of the same item.
