Designed and built in the Italian Apennines. A pair of rear corner guards in 3+2 aluminium diamond plate, with the fuel filler cut-out already formed. Cut and welded to follow the real body profile.
The rear corners of the Samurai take the heaviest toll. Reversing in tight spaces, dropping off ledges, catching rock on the way out: it is the first place to dent, and on most of the ones still running the mark is already there.
The MG Off Road rear corner guards are made from 3+2 aluminium diamond plate — 3 mm base plus 2 mm relief — and wrap the full exposed corner.
They protect, and they cover
The guard works on two fronts. On sound metal it acts as a barrier: it takes the hit instead of the bodywork, and if badly damaged it gets replaced. On metal that is already marked, it covers the dent and gives the corner a clean line back, without a trip to the body shop.
The diamond relief is not just a look: the pressed pattern stiffens the plate, so at equal thickness it resists bending better than a flat surface.
Cut and welded to follow the profile
The Samurai's rear corner is not a simple curve. A 5 mm plate cannot follow it by bending alone: either you approximate it with a panel that never sits flush, or you cut it and weld it.
We chose the second. Every guard is cut in half and re-welded to reproduce the real curvature of the body and sit flush across the whole surface.
The weld stays visible on the diamond relief: that is what a part built around the real profile looks like, rather than a simplified version of it.
Aluminium, not steel
Aluminium does not rust. A painted steel guard, once chipped, starts corroding exactly where mud and salt sit — and passes the rust on to the panel underneath. That problem does not arise here.
Fuel filler cut-out
The opening for the fuel filler is already formed in the panel. No trimming on fitting. The guard does not extend over the rear light, which stays clear and accessible.
Two versions
The Samurai's rear profile differs between soft top and hard top: the guards follow the bodywork, so the two versions are not interchangeable.

Installation
Fitting can be done two ways:
A note on fitting
The Samurai was built for over twenty years, and after decades of use, repairs and replaced panels, no two of them share exactly the same corner radius.
Depending on your vehicle's bodywork, some minor adjustment may be needed during installation. This is the normal condition for this type of product, and is stated by overseas manufacturers of the same item.
Complete the protection
Front corner guards are also available, with the indicator cut-out. The full front + rear kit is the better value.
